More than 3,700 layoffs; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will cut at least 23% of its staff.

Jin10 reported on July 19 that on July 18 local time, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it would reduce its workforce by at least 23% through early retirement and layoffs. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stated that as of January this year, the agency had a total of 16,155 employees. Following this layoff restructuring, the total number is expected to decrease to 12,448. Furthermore, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency indicated that the agency's size may shrink further. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency also announced the dissolution of its scientific research institution, the "Office of Research and Development."
