From POW to vPOW: How Cellula is Reshaping the Asset Issuance Paradigm

Since 2017, the Web3 industry has entered an era of low thresholds for asset issuance. However, conventional IDO and ICO methods have revealed many deficiencies in terms of fairness, with various "rug pull" behaviors emerging one after another. The industry has been exploring more fair and reliable asset issuance protocols to address various issues in the new project token generation event (TGE).

The Cellula project provides a new perspective for this. It implements an asset distribution layer that simulates proof of work (POW), utilizing virtual proof of work (vPOW) to "mine" the asset distribution process, simulating a fairer asset allocation model compared to Bitcoin. This approach can serve as a universal asset issuance platform, bringing broader prospects for Web3 projects.

Interpretation of Cellula: A Gamified Asset Issuance Protocol in Tribute to POW Mining

The Core of vPOW: Conway's Game of Life and BitLife

The core of Cellula is based on the famous "Conway's Game of Life" algorithm. Simply put, it is a game that simulates the evolution of cell life and death on a two-dimensional grid. The life and death state of each cell depends on the states of the 8 neighboring cells, iterating according to certain rules.

In Cellula, this "cell culture dish" is called BitLife, consisting of 9x9=81 squares. Each square's cell has two states: alive/dead, corresponding to binary 0 and 1. Players need to choose the initial mode of BitLife, which is equivalent to setting the input parameters. Due to the enormous number of combinations for the initial mode, (2^81, it creates a randomness similar to Bitcoin mining.

The cell state of BitLife changes with the increase in block height. The system allocates computing power based on the number of surviving cells in BitLife at different block heights. The more surviving cells a BitLife has, the higher its computing power, which is equivalent to a virtual mining machine. The player's goal is to acquire or construct the BitLife that is most likely to obtain mining rewards.

The system distributes a certain amount of mining rewards every 5 minutes, allocated according to the share of computing power each BitLife has in the network. Players need to perform a "charging" operation on BitLife to start mining, with a single charge being valid for 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days.

Analysoor Lottery Algorithm and VRGDAs Pricing Curve

Cellula has also introduced the Analysoor random number algorithm to implement charging lotteries, as well as variable rate progressive Dutch auctions ) VRGDAs ( to dynamically adjust the minting price of BitLife. These mechanisms are designed to incentivize player participation and prevent scientists from minting BitLife without limits.

From the Perspective of Player Game Theory on Cellula

In the Cellula ecosystem, there are multiple participants, including "scientists", MEV players, and ordinary players. Scientists can find high-computing power BitLife combinations through algorithms, MEV players listen in and follow the trend to mint popular BitLife, while the VRGDAs mechanism balances supply and demand by dynamically adjusting prices.

This design simulates the operation of the Bitcoin mining machine market, but lowers the barrier to entry. Anyone has the opportunity to become a "scientist" and participate in BitLife state simulation, which is a situation that cannot occur in the real mining machine industry chain.

Overall, Cellula redefines the asset issuance paradigm through the vPOW mechanism, creating a more fair and open gamified asset distribution platform. It is not only a tribute to POW mining but also an interesting social experiment that provides new asset issuance ideas for Web3 projects.
