Buffett sees the potential in Block chain domain name patents? Increased holdings by nearly 30 million pounds to become VeriSign's largest shareholder

Warren Buffett's investment company, Berkshire Hathaway, recently increased its stake in the domain name registration service provider VeriSign, becoming its largest shareholder. Berkshire Hathaway submitted documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) showing that it spent a total of $28.55 million to acquire 143,424 shares of VeriSign stock on December 20, 23, and 24. Through this acquisition, Berkshire Hathaway currently holds approximately 13.7% of VeriSign's shares, making it the largest single shareholder. VeriSign, established in 1995, is a leading global provider of key internet infrastructure and domain registration services. It holds patents for connecting domain names to blockchain addresses such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The company's profitability metrics rank high among S&P 500 component companies, with gross profit margin, operating profit margin, and net profit margin all placing in the top 11, 6, and 7 respectively. Additionally, VeriSign holds multiple blockchain patents, including methods for transferring domain names in secondary blockchain markets and DNS, as well as managing the lifecycle of domain blockchain addresses. Buffett's interest in VeriSign may stem from its crucial role in the global internet infrastructure and its potential in blockchain technology.
