E. to delete all personal information collected since January 20th. A federal judge has barred the Department of Government Efficiency (D. O. G. E. ) from accessing Social Security records, ruling that the operation constitutes an unwarranted seizure of data. Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander, in a ruling issued Thursday by the U. S. District Court in Baltimore, barred Musk's team from obtaining personally identifiable information (PII) from the Social Security Administration (SSA), saying they failed to show good cause for the request. The ruling prohibits SSA Acting Commissioner Leland Dudek, CIO Michael Russo and all SSA employees from allowing D. O. G. E to access any systems containing personal information. Hollander called the D. O. G. E. 's request excessive, accusing them of conducting a bottom-feeding probe without specific justification. The court also ordered D. O. G. E. and its affiliates to delete all personal data they had already received since January 20. Hollander emphasized that Musk's team never explained why they needed unrestricted access to SSA records. The judge criticized the defendants for attempting to access a vast amount of sensitive data, including Social Security numbers, employment records, tax returns, medical records and banking information. Defendants, the so-called experts on the D. O. G. E. team, have failed to justify D. O. G. E. Hollander also pointed out the hypocrisy of Musk's team. While D. O. G. E. The defense does not appear to share the privacy concerns of millions of Americans whose SSA records were provided to D.
