In the Crypto Assets market, investors need to be cautious about those Tokens that are undergoing a large-scale unlocking phase. While the unlocking event itself does not necessarily lead to a big dump in prices, it does bring uncertainty to the market.
The unlock period means that early investors and the project team can start selling the tokens they hold. However, their behavior is unpredictable - they may pump up the price before selling, or they may cash out directly at a high position. For ordinary investors, this uncertainty increases investment risk.
Taking tokens like ARB, OP, DYDX, and WLD as examples, it is common to see prices suddenly fall from high levels as the unlocking date approaches. This is mainly because early participants tend to sell off early to avoid missing the best selling opportunity, which puts pressure on the price to decline.
However, not all unlocks will have a negative impact on the market. If the project party and major shareholders can coordinate and establish clear price targets and a phased selling plan, a "healthy unlocking" may be achieved. SUI has adopted this strategy, first raising the price and then gradually exiting. Although there was still a fall later on, it at least provided investors with some operational space.
Overall, compared to the tokens that are still undergoing large-scale unlocking, those that have completed unlocking and have more stable supply and demand may be more worthy of attention. Older projects that have lost market heat may not necessarily have an advantage; those that truly perform well are often public chains or emerging projects with hot topics, market consensus, and solid fundamentals. From the market performance perspective, the top 50 mainstream tokens (excluding stablecoins) generally outperform most other tokens.
For investors, it is crucial to have an in-depth understanding of the project's unlocking plan, team strategy, and market response. When making investment decisions, it is essential to consider these factors comprehensively, rather than just focusing on the price trends of the Token. At the same time, closely monitoring market dynamics and selecting projects with long-term development potential may be a more robust investment strategy.
