Abstract generation in progress

On July 28, Reuters reported that Interactive Brokers is considering launching a stablecoin to support round-the-clock financing and Crypto Assets transfer services, a move that will deepen its involvement in the Crypto Assets industry.

During an interview, Interactive Brokers founder Thomas Peterffy confirmed that the company is indeed considering launching its own stablecoin, but no final decision has been made yet regarding the specific structure and launch method of the stablecoin. Industry layout and in-depth exploration Interactive Brokers views Crypto Assets as a means to hedge against potential market disruption risks and plans to establish an instant, around-the-clock stablecoin financing channel for brokerage accounts through this initiative, while also supporting the asset transfer of common coin trading. This brokerage, valued at approximately $110 billion, has now partnered with Paxos and Zero Hash (one of its investors is Interactive Brokers) to provide clients with Crypto Assets trading services. Under the existing framework, Interactive Brokers may allow clients to fund their accounts using stablecoins issued by other reputable financial institutions. Stablecoins, as a type of asset designed to anchor the value of the US dollar, primarily serve to facilitate the transfer of funds across borders without relying on traditional banking systems.

However, competition in the industry is also becoming increasingly fierce. Interactive Brokers' competitor Robinhood launched the global dollar network centered around the USDG stablecoin issued by Paxos last year. This competitive backdrop highlights that large retail platforms are competing to integrate core brokerage services into the stablecoin track. Business expansion and risk hedging Although various parties are currently laying out strategies in this field, Peterffy has previously expressed doubts about Crypto Assets. He admitted that even if customer demand continues to grow, he will remain cautious. He pointed out that the fundamental value of Crypto Assets is difficult to grasp. If we see people adopting it and assigning it value, I can accept that, but I still won't believe it.

In fact, Interactive Brokers has been actively expanding its business related to market structure. Last year, the company launched the prediction market ForecastEx, allowing investors to bet on specific events by buying and selling "yes/no" contracts. This innovative product is seen as a strategic hedge against the potential risks of its traditional businesses (stocks, futures, options) and Crypto Assets business. As of the end of June, the number of client accounts at Interactive Brokers has grown to approximately 3.87 million, a 32% increase compared to the same period last year, thanks to sustained trading activity during a year of policy-driven turbulence. So far this year, the company's stock price has risen by about 48%, significantly outperforming the industry index's rise of about 20%. Conclusion: In summary, this move by Interactive Brokers is both an attempt to adapt to industry trends and expand service boundaries, and it reflects the founder's consistent cautious style and determination to strategically expand into the encryption world. The layout and competition surrounding stablecoins will evolve in the future, which is worth ongoing attention. #盈透证券 # stablecoin
