The U.S. Congress vetoed the "End Corruption in the Encryption Sector" amendment.
Gate News bot message, PANews reported on July 1st that the U.S. Senate voted 46 in favor and 54 against to reject Senator Jeff Merkley's amendment titled "Ending Corruption in the Crypto Space." This amendment aimed to prohibit elected officials from gaining improper benefits by promoting Crypto Assets. After the voting results were announced, Merkley posted on the X platform stating: "No elected official should be able to leverage Crypto Assets schemes to sell influence and enrich themselves." The amendment ultimately failed due to the collective opposition of Republican legislators.
