15% Ethereum validators support raising the Gas limit again
Gate News bot news, based on the data from the dashboard gaslimit.pics created by Ethereum researcher Toni Wahrstätter, over 150,000 Ethereum validators (approximately 15% of the total network) have expressed support for significantly increasing the gas limit of this blockchain, a move that may further enhance the transaction throughput of Ethereum Layer 1.
The new proposal aims to raise the gas limit for Ethereum to 60 million units, nearly double the current 36 million units. Unlike major protocol upgrades, this change does not require a hard fork. Validators can adjust their node configurations when proposing a block. Once more than 50% of validators express support, the block gas limit will be automatically adjusted.
The gas limit was previously set at 30 million but was raised to 36 million in February of this year. The last adjustment occurred in 2021, when the gas limit doubled from 15 million to 30 million.
Although this move can increase transaction processing capacity, some developers warn that raising the limit may put pressure on the hardware of node operators and could affect network operation.
