Discussing Conflux Founder Long Fan's Technical Commitment and Long-term Vision

Professor Long Fan recently attended the Conflux Digital Finance and Ecological Development Conference in Hong Kong, making a public appearance after many years. As an alumni of Tsinghua University's Yao Class, a PhD from MIT, and a professor at the University of Toronto, Long Fan has been quietly leading his team in advancing Conflux as the only compliant public blockchain in China, focusing on technological exploration and global expansion.

In this rare interview, Long Fan shared for the first time his systematic thoughts on Conflux's path selection, independent judgments on industry trends, and advice for young developers.

The technical foundation and entrepreneurial spirit of Conflux

Long Fan stated that he is primarily a computer science researcher, meaning that "scientist" is his fundamental identity. Whether as the founder of Conflux or in an academic capacity, these are extensions of this basic identity.

For Conflux, Long Fan believes its core positioning is "a high-performance public chain based in China or Asia, dedicated to becoming an important infrastructure of the Web 3.0 era." This positioning has been established since the project's inception in 2018 and has been upheld to this day.

In terms of technology, Conflux's biggest advantage lies in achieving high performance of 3000-6000 TPS without sacrificing decentralization and security. Since its independent online launch, Conflux has maintained zero security incidents, demonstrating the stability and credibility of its architecture.

The Road to Compliance and Development: Long-term Beliefs and Path Choices

Conflux is currently the only compliant public blockchain in China, a status that stems from the team's long-standing strategic choice to adhere to compliance development. Long Fan stated that this was not something that was "fought for," but rather a result of most teams choosing to abandon or relocate overseas during various regulatory policy adjustments, while Conflux chose to stay and communicate with regulators, exploring a path for compliant development.

Long Fan believes that while compliant development incurs higher costs in the short term, it is very valuable in the long run. He emphasized that communication with regulatory agencies is not entirely impossible; as long as both parties are willing to communicate, they can ultimately find a solution that is mutually understood and can be advanced.

When discussing the layout of Hong Kong, Long Fan likened Hong Kong to a "special zone" for blockchain, an important pilot location for China when facing new things. Hong Kong is currently in a period of policy dividends, providing blockchain projects with lower compliance costs and a more open development environment.

###'s views on RWA and Memecoin

Long Fan believes that RWA( real-world assets ) are not a bubble, but rather a continuously optimized development path as the industry breaks through regulatory constraints. He views RWA as an extension of the stablecoin concept and an upgrade of the narrative, representing an important attempt to combine blockchain technology with the real economy.

For Memecoin, Long Fan likens it to "gambling in the crypto era," believing it satisfies humanity's primal needs for risk and excitement. He points out that Memecoin is essentially another form of speculative game, its existence depending on people's attitudes toward the act of "betting."

Conflux's long-term development strategy

Long Fan stated that Conflux will continue to uphold the technological route of "Asian High-Performance Public Chain." Unlike many projects chasing short-term trends, Conflux has chosen a more robust, long-term development strategy. He believes that this continuous investment will eventually yield significant returns in the coming years.

For developers new to the industry, Long Fan suggests choosing a suitable development direction based on individual and team characteristics. He categorizes developers into two types: one type is good at seizing short-term opportunities, suitable for trying application layer projects; the other type is more suitable for choosing a direction that can be invested in long-term and focusing on cultivation.

Finally, Long Fan emphasized that Conflux is more inclined to support teams that are willing to invest long-term and have clear plans, rather than short-term "migrant-type" developers. He urged developers to grow together with the ecosystem and promote the continuous development of blockchain technology.
