The Growth Path of Women Leaders in Web3: From Global Perspective to Industry Innovation
Growth and Turning Points: A Story of a Web3 Female Leader
In the workplace, she is known for her decisiveness and efficiency, while in life, she shows a casual and charming side. As an Aquarius, she is not only approachable but also has a spirit of innovation. Her years of dedication to learning and maintaining a healthy lifestyle have kept her not only looking youthful and vibrant but also full of energy in her thoughts and actions.
Reflecting on her life journey, she said: "I have completed two master's degrees and am currently pursuing a doctorate. I have lived in seven cities across four continents. I have eight years of experience as a senior manager and eight years of continuous entrepreneurial experience." When discussing the topic of "growth," her eyes revealed a wealth of life experience, "My life has always been about saying goodbye to the past. Whenever I ask myself 'If life remains unchanged, should I make a change?' — usually at that moment, I already have the answer in my heart. In fact, the few key turning points in our lives often happen unexpectedly. To identify the fundamental driving force behind them requires us to wisely recognize our limitations during periods of great change and to have the courage to say goodbye to our past selves, facing the new unknown calmly."
She likes to share a saying with her friends: "Without seeing the world, how can one talk about a worldview?" She explained: "The ancients taught us 'read thousands of books, travel thousands of miles, and make friends from all directions.' In reality, what we see and hear, where our hearts are directed, the heights we reach, the careers we engage in, the wealth we create, the friends we make... these all constitute our world."
Talking about turning points in life, she recalled: "Looking back over the past decade, from a value perspective, studying, working, and settling in the United States has been an important turning point in my life. It helped me reshape a value system based on multiculturalism, inclusiveness, freedom, and equality. This has allowed me to follow my heart and do the right thing without hesitation or worry in my subsequent life choices. From a career perspective, entering the Web3 industry and meeting a group of excellent entrepreneurial partners is another significant turning point. It has opened a fast track for a Chinese immigrant to rise overseas and made me more determined and composed on the path to becoming a serial entrepreneur. Now, returning to Hong Kong to start a business and further my education, I am well aware that this will be another exciting turning point. 'Having traveled half my life, I return still a youth.' I still maintain honesty and sincerity, my ambitions remain, but now I can better understand this world and have gained greater strength. I want to do even better things, and I believe I can definitely do better."
When talking about the challenges faced by female leaders, she shared: "People often say that humility and peace are virtues of women, but in workplace competition, women cannot benefit from these virtues. It is important to know that in work, the roles that are usually the best fit for us are those where we have less than half of the grasp; this is the only way we can create space for learning and continuously improve ourselves until we are fully competent. If you have reached a 90% grasp of the work content, it is time to seek change and look for more challenging opportunities. Whether or not you feel you have 100% ability to try for a higher position or lead a new project, you should bravely 'lean forward' and challenge yourself."
"The real opponent in life is oneself." This may be the reason why she bravely changes again and again. From traditional industries to Web3, from a professional manager to a serial entrepreneur, from New York to Hong Kong, she has never been satisfied with the status quo and is not limited by her identity as a woman. On the contrary, she believes that the Web3 industry offers more opportunities for women. "Compared to traditional industries, the Web3 industry has fewer inherent models, creating more opportunities for women in the workplace to enter senior positions. If you have expertise in a particular field, such as product design, market operations, data analysis, or financial management, joining early and maintaining rapid learning and growth gives you a great chance to become an industry expert or corporate executive. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the Web3 industry is more inclined to offer flexible working arrangements, which helps women better balance workplace affairs and family responsibilities. After working in Hong Kong, I found that women in the workplace here are very independent, career-oriented, highly educated, and financially strong." She added, "However, in the context of Eastern culture, most men believe that the pursuit of wealth and power is taken for granted, treating their careers as life itself. Women need to better handle the issue of multiple roles, seeking a dynamic balance between family and career for a long time. This requires them to be braver in being themselves and managing multiple roles effectively."
When talking about achievements and plans, she smiled and said: "I like the word 'plan', but I don't really like making plans. Because merely making plans is not enough; what's more important is achieving results. In our lifetime, time is the most valuable resource. By being goal-oriented and managing our resources and energy effectively, we can make the most of our time." She continued to add: "Fortunately, our company achieved tenfold business growth and doubled valuation growth in 2024. Over the past year, we have found the right strategy and positioning for the enterprise, and have achieved good results in both marketing and conference services. This is the result of the team's collective efforts."
"If we talk about some career and life goals for 2025," she added, "the following points will definitely appear on my priority list: First, the company's innovative technology business line should be steadily implemented, achieving at least 100% revenue growth and over 200% valuation growth; Second, during my pursuit of a doctoral degree, I will systematically organize and update my theoretical knowledge framework and apply it to Web3 business practice cases; Third, during my time in Hong Kong, I hope to have more time and opportunities to accompany my mother."
When it comes to personal hobbies, her response is equally impressive: "Focus and simplicity are the secrets to my happy life, as they allow more time for important things. Deep reading and independent thinking are essential; communicating with highly cognitive individuals from different cultural backgrounds is also important, and all of these are worth allocating some time to; no matter how busy I am, I always maintain a relatively fixed fitness schedule, as good physical condition gives me more energy and increases my work efficiency."
"If I were lucky enough to have a complete vacation, I would go skiing." She said with a smile, as the March sunlight shone on her, as if she were already standing on the vast, pristine snowfield.
