Starknet promotes Decentralization validation and introduces stakers to participate in Block confirmation.
[Coin World] According to the Starknet SNIP 33 draft, Starknet is advancing to the decentralized validation phase, which is a key step towards full decentralization after version v0.14. The draft indicates that currently all blocks are validated by a small number of internal sequencers from StarkWare, while decentralized validation will for the first time introduce stakers to participate in block confirmation, enhancing the protocol's openness and security. The draft proposes that decentralized validation will use a committee composed of the top 100 largest stakers, who will sign blocks based on their staking ratio, with more than two-thirds of the signatures required to confirm a block, while introducing a "reward proposer" mechanism to ensure reward distribution. To prevent the network from pausing due to validation issues, the draft also designs an optional "centralized leverage" mechanism, which can temporarily revert to a centralized model under abnormal circumstances and restore decentralization after approval by the security committee. Furthermore, decentralized validation will maintain Starknet's performance and throughput at no less than 95% of version v0.14, with node deployment costs kept at around $1000 per month, and transaction validity and RPC interface remaining unchanged. This SNIP is currently in the draft phase, aimed at gathering community feedback to refine the decentralized roadmap for version v0.15.
