The US-listed company SharpLink has reserves exceeding those of the Ethereum Foundation.
SharpLink Gaming is a NASDAQ-listed gaming entertainment company with the ticker SBET, which has attracted significant market attention due to its announcement of using Ethereum as part of its capital operation strategy.
The company raised $425 million through the PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) model from institutions including Consensys, Galaxy Digital, and Pantera Capital, which will be used to establish an Ethereum reserve. Among them, Joseph Lubin, the CEO of Consensys, the parent company of the Ethereum co-founder and the Metamask wallet, also joined SharpLink as chairman.
Injective will launch the Ethereum Reserve Company SBET on-chain.
Recently, Injective announced the launch of a new asset framework called iAssets, and will tokenize SharpLink (SBET) on-chain. Injective stated that this is the first on-chain digital asset repository (DAT), which will transform static corporate Ether reserves into active, yield-generating on-chain tools.
Injective's move is not just about tokenizing stocks; it combines its own financial attributes to allow stock tokens to be used in DeFi, generating yield. ShasrpLink is just the first step, and perhaps we can look forward to more stocks and asset reserve company stocks being on-chain.
Matt Sheffield, the trading director of institutional cryptocurrency broker FalconX, stated that digital asset vaults have opened new doors for institutional and retail investors, allowing them to enter the cryptocurrency market in a more structured and transparent manner. The core value lies in enabling tokenized investments, with the potential to enhance returns. The on-chain product tracking SBET launched by Injective marks a significant milestone in bringing the capital efficiency of public markets into DeFi infrastructure in a composable and transparent manner.
