Slovak Prime Minister: Retain the autonomy to decide on the rise in defense spending.
Golden Ten Data on June 24, local time on June 23, Slovak Prime Minister Fizo said that Slovakia's defense budget in 2026 will not exceed 2025, and Slovakia has more important priorities than armaments. Fizo stressed that Slovakia, like Spain, has the autonomy to determine the growth rate and structure of defense spending. Fizo said in a statement on social platforms that in order to achieve NATO's 2035 goals, Slovakia must reserve the right to independently determine the growth rate and structure of its defense budget, as Spain did. Fizo said that the increase in the Sri Lankan defense budget in 2026 will be used only for dual-use projects such as hospitals and road infrastructure.
